Introduction
Rivers State is known as the second most industrialised state in Nigeria and is one of the biggest suppliers of income to the nation, rich in natural resources and known for its oil production.
Never lacking relevant resources and talents, Rivers State has quickly adapted to the mantra "tech is the new oil" and has produced many fine tech startups and digital businesses Nigeria can boast of, in addition to her abundant resources.
Despite this growth, Port Harcourt, the capital city of Rivers State, home to several startups and tech innovation hubs, still exists in obscurity. Despite the groundbreaking achievements, Port Harcourt is still relatively unknown in the Nigerian tech community.
Several challenges are suspected to be hindrances to the express inclusion and recognition of the Port Harcourt tech industry on a national scale, and these problems are what my team and I have set out to tackle. We plan to evaluate the roles of individuals, organizations, businesses, and government in the challenges facing the tech industry in Rivers State, and propose solutions that would help correct the problems and set us on the right path for explosive growth. We would be watching and following in the footsteps of the tech capital of Nigeria, Lagos State.
Our research team consist of Data Analysts, Content Developers, Researchers and Writers, all working together to get data, problems and also solutions that will enable growth and massive innovations in the state.
When the tech industry grows, innovation is born and opportunities are created for most Nigerians to become early adopters of the new digital economy. We will all witness that growth.
